This week’s “Fan Friday” features Mikey from Dartmouth, Ma. Mikey has been a Celtics season-ticket holder since 2006, and is at every Celtics home game. He is a big collector of NBA memorabilia -specifically autographs. Mikey is at the Garden 2 hours prior to tip-off of every gamenight. I call him “The Autograph King,” as Mikey has hundreds of autographs from the likes of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen. Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Paul – just to name a few..
Mikey, his step-Dad and younger brother David attend most-every Celtics homegame together. Mikey lists his favorite moments as Game 6 in 2008, when the Celtics spanked the Lakers 131-92 and clinched Banner 17, Opening Night the following season, when said banner was raised to the rafters, and Paul Pierce and Lebron James’ epic battle in Game 7 of the E.C. semis on 5/8/2008.
Mikey lists Paul Pierce as his favorite Celtic, and says The Truth “is the reason I started watching the Celtics.” It’s Pierce’s “leadership” that drew Mikey in, and he has been a fan ever since. Before each game, Mikey films he and his younger brother as they get autographs and/or pictures with members of the Celtics and the opposing teams’ players. He has a very impressive collection of videos that you can see on his YouTube channel. Checkout the video below – it features Mikey with an array of NBA players.
