Daniel Snyder says he will build a new Redskins stadium that is reminiscent of ol’ RFK Stadium. RFK is still sacred to the memory of ‘Skins fans, including Snyder who grew up adoring the Redskins just like the rest of us.
He has not explained what he means precisely by “reminiscent of RFK.” I hope he does not mean the out-dated stadium design. New NFL stadiums have an other-worldly look. Take, for example, the new US Bank Stadium going up in Minneapolis.
The new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons is stunningly impressive.
These are the standards by which the future home of the Redskins shall be measured.
Hog Heaven predicts that the new stadium will not be built in the District of Columbia, thanks to a hostile attitude held by D.C. leaders that apparently offends the owner.
The only similarity to RFK that Snyder should strive to build into his new stadium is a Super Bowl-caliber team that consistently wins at home.
Like the Redskins teams that Snyder cheered for as a child.
Gazing at the past, instead of towards the future, is a failing I truly hope Snyder has outgrown.
