Redskins release Tim Hightower, Terrence Austin; rumored to swap Anthony Armstrong for Miami RB Steve Slaton

Washington Redskins running back Tim Hightower could not out-run his knee problems. He wull be released from the team today, according to reports on the Twitterverse.

The Redskins informed WR Terrence Austin that he will be released.

Receivers Aldrick Robinson and Brandon Banks have made the team.

Media sources are reporting that Washington is in trade talks with Miami to swap WR Anthony Armstrong for RB Steve Slaton.

NFL teams must cut the roster to 53 men by 9:00 PM ET today. The Redskins will cut more than 22 names to make room for pick-ups from the waiver wire. They wiill be few in number, but we should expect it. None of this is official until it is announced by the team. That will not happen until it clears the league office.
