The Washington Redskins completed their personnel moves to bring the roster down to 53 men. This list is a cut & paste from Redskins.com.
The team waived the following players:
- K Zach Hocker
- OL Maurice Hurt
- CB Chase Minnifield
- RB Evan Royster
- RB Lache Seastrunk
- S Phillip Thomas
- RB Chris Thompson
- WR Nick Williams
In other related roster moves, the Redskins:
- Released LB Everette Brown
- Placed NT Chris Neild and LB Darryl Sharpton on the Reserved/Injured list
- Placed DE Stephen Bowen and WR Leonard Hankerson on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list
The team previously announced Friday it had waived the following eight players:
- TE Ted Bolser
- CB Richard Crawford
- S Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith
- WR Lee Doss
- OL Kevin Kowalski
- P Robert Malone
- OL Tevita Stevens
- NT Robert Thomas
Hog Heaven thinks that Seastrunk, Thomas, Thompson and Williams are destined for the Redskins Practice Squad if they clear waivers Sunday.
I was never comfortable with Royster’s status given the rushing talent the Redskins brought in. We hope he lands on another team and wish him well if he does.
Seastrunk’s waiver is a mild surprise given his flash shown during preseason. The Redskins could be guessing that he has a better chance to clear waivers than Silas Redd who we expected to see here instead. Lets hope.
The ‘Skins released veteran linebacker Rob Jackson on August 24 and they waived eight other players to get down to the 75-man roster limit. Jackson is currently a free agent.
The Redskins have been playing musical chairs with the punters. The team waived Blake Clingan on August 20 and then they claimed Tress Way off waivers from the Bears. They released Robert Malone on Friday. Malone had been in camp all preseason.
We get to real football news on Tuesday. HAIL to That!
