In the past 72 hours we've seen a lot of transfer news coming out of Wisconsin, first it was Danny O'Brien, then it was fellow QB Chase Knox, and now today, perhaps the most surprising of all the news comes out: redshirt freshman Reggie Mitchell is transferring from Wisconsin to Pitt.
At least that is what is being reported by media outlets in Pittsburgh and by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Jeff Potrykus.
Former Shady Side star Reggie Mitchell was granted a release from Wisconsin. Expected to transfer to Pitt.

This comes as a bit of a surprise since Mitchell ran all spring with the No. 1 defense at the safety spot next to Dezmen Southward. He was going to face some good competition from incoming JUCO transfer Donnell Vercher to say the least, but the position was going to be his for the taking in fall camp. At least, that was the mantra coming out of spring ball.
With this surprise move the Badgers depth in an already thin secondary this season took another big time blow. On a related note, I have been hearing from sources that Jeff Lewis, a running back at UW for his entire career so far, has been moved to safety. That makes him the 2nd RB to make the move as Kyle Zuleger also made that transition, doing so this spring.
This also could be Michael Trotter's chance to redeem himself after a less than spectacular spring and 2012 season. Expect the competition to come down to Vercher and Trotter when it's all said and done though and expect Vercher to win it, if he can perform anything like his JUCO tape suggests that is.
