Each week we will be looking at different free agents that the Minnesota Vikings have on the roster. We will look at their strengths, weakness, and how valuable they are to the team. This week will be focusing on:
G Mike Harris:
In 2014 Mike Harris started off as right tackle for five games. But after some tweaking in training camp last season, Harris was moved to guard, and that move seemed to suit him well. He only missed one snap, had three sacks, and is rated 26th out of 81 guards by Pro Football Focus and has the approval from Head Coach Mike Zimmer.
But, if the Vikings decide to turn to the draft instead of starting Harris, he could always go back to his position at right tackle. His size, 6’5” and 338 lbs, could make him a better fit for the right tackle position; he could still get looked at for both positions though. That is obviously depending on the status of Phil Loadholt’s Achilles injury and how far he has come with his healing and if the Vikings want some competition for T.J. Clemmings.
One thing the Vikings like about Harris is his versatility. It showcases his athletic skill and his ability to be a team player; he’s the kind of guy that’s worth keeping around.
