While everyone on the internets was busy blasting NBC Christin Cooper and her interview with Bode Miller on Sunday…I was reminded of "Bode Baseball".
That's right, not only is the 36-year-old America's most decorated Olympic downhill skier, he is also a former Minor League baseball player.
Well…kind of.
In 2006, Miller signed a one-game contract with the Nashua Pride of the independent CanAm League. And even though he hadn't played baseball since he was a kid, the New Hampshire native was in the lineup as the team's starting leftfielder and even made a pretty spectacular catch.
“It’s fun to watch," Miller said after the game. "It’s even more fun to play. I’d do it again."
So…he did. Twice.
All in all, Miller had six plate appearances in his three stints with the Pride. And as you might have suspected, he went hitless…striking out five times. But, hey, he's got his own page over at Baseball-Reference to add to those six Olympic medals!
