Witness to The Great Warriors Takeover Of The Early 2000s

Journal Entry Date: July 4, 2016

It happened on what otherwise should have been a jubilant day of festivities and celebration. But, in the early morning of Monday, July 4, I was awoken by a shaking I had never felt before. What followed was such an intense sensation of calamity and destruction I had not seen nor heard of since the great Decision of 2010. The whole western landscape seemed to crumble before my eyes. Great franchises were toppled and cities once filled with hope and splendor were now reduced to smoldering past-their-prime rubble.

There was much crying and wailing along the Western Conference, save for one city, one city whose blatant hunger for shooters, MVPs, and mama’s boys shook the rest of the continent to its core. When the Warriors of Golden State took hold of the mighty weapon Kevin Durant, the look of horror and puzzlement on the people’s faces will be one I can never erase from my mind. The scourge and outcry from Stephen A. Smith echoed through my mind long after the day was to end.

The trembling seemed to last forever, but when it finally did stop, the obliteration of an entire conference was complete. Half of Los Angeles was left to ponder its past while the other half dribbled around in a confused haze of heartache and State Farm commercials. The great cities of Texas, their robust size once of great pride, were now left standing in the shadows of the four elongated horseman that rose high from the western bay.

The City of Roses, avoided by many even before the great shaking began, was now even more so left to ponder its lonely place in this new barren landscape. Other cities befell the same fate, from the great capitol of California to the wintry, snow laden lands of Utah to the scorched lands of Arizona, all the way to the fool’s gold of Memphis. All were decimated in the wake of one man’s independence of the great and terrible Westbrook.

But nowhere was the shaking so great as it was in the epicenter of Oklahoma City. It was here as if the wrath of its origins, long forgotten and castaway, had finally wrought its long awaited revenge. And what perfect timing to lay waste and avenge; for there was no crueler moment than now, when the city was so close to glory, when everything was in prime form, when the light of the O’Brien looked the closest, to rip everything away. Now, the city is relevant no more.

As night casually swallowed the day’s light, I laid my weary head down and pondered this new world of a Big Four. Slowly I fell to sleep, my eyelids casting heavy upon me as the laughter of a thousand Sonics fans soothed me to sleep.

From the panic and uproar of the day before, a strange sense of reasoning blanketed the land. Maybe all is not lost? The four horseman of the Bay Area still loomed large over the landscape, their impending offensive onslaught across the land weighed heavily on the hearts and minds of analytics everywhere. In the darkness of such travesty, how quickly we become blind to the past.

We must remember, has if it was just a few short weeks ago, there was mighty king from the east that wielded his powers and accomplished the unthinkable, striking down a record setting, three-headed beast with one glorious block of its attack. Now that the defeated has grown stronger, can he employ enough strength to topple the mighty Warriors once more?

Or, is there an unseen force ready to unleash its powers? Rumors abound that the great city by the river may not have fallen completely into obscurity. Some say that the powers of the Warriors may have dwindled just enough in bulk and depth that a weak spot is to be found. Maybe the enemy’s ankles are not as sturdy as they once seemed? We know it to be true that this adversary was defeated before from one too many attacks to the nether regions; their love of the groin could be their downfall once again.

Through the carnage and wreckage of broken free-agent dreams, hope will arise once again. Chemistry has not yet had her say in this new formation by the great golden bridge. Too much power can corrupt from within if not all egos are soothed and all minds are not of one. It was once said that these fowl creatures were once human ballers. Come the dawn of fall, a battle will commence with 29 seekers of the throne and one defender of the crown in order to bring down these overindulged, gluttonous Warriors of Golden State.

With back-to-back titles now achieved, perhaps the Warriors will realize they no longer need the weapon called Durant, having clearly dominated the landscape long enough. Maybe, the Warriors of the west will have mercy on all of us. We can only hope that over the next few years, we can finally begin to recover from the Big One that has taken such a toll on all of us.

Our nightmare continues. We continue to send our best against the Warriors, but nothing seems to faze them. I feel my soul slipping away…..

What a glorious day! Today we celebrated the ninth title of our beloved Golden State overlords! Although we have yet to have a parade for this year’s title, I’m already looking forward to next year’s championship! It will be even more spectacular when league MVP Damian Lillard, by enforcement of the new NBA agreement that stipulates any current and active MVP sign with the Warriors upon availability, joins Golden State next season.

All hail our Dear Leader, the Golden State Warriors.
