For those who don’t know, free agents signed this summer can now be traded, which means some teams are looking to take those guys who have been playing well and gauge interest… while other teams are like Ron Burgundy jumping into the bear pen and immediately regretting their free agent decisions (I’m looking at you, Charlotte).
As it turns out, Danny Ainge is really out there trying to earn a Christmas bonus…
Among most active teams on phones: (in no order): Celtics, Pistons, Suns, Timberwolves, Hornets, Clippers, Pacers, Nets, Nuggets, Rockets.

No sense of imminent deals, but tremendous volume of trade discussions among teams for only the mid-December benchmark.

It’s hard to say exactly what Ainge is trying to do here. Is he shopping in the bargain bin to see if teams with panicky owners will make panicky trades? Or is he trying to move a player like Jeff Green or Brandon Bass and just now making calls because Evan Turner and others can be attached? Evan Turner can’t be traded until the 27th because he was signed later. Thanks to those who pointed it out and corrected me
Either way, Danny’s trying to do something… so you can bet the next couple of months between now and the trade deadline will be busy and full of all sorts of fun (and not so fun) rumors.
