Of course, this is the trade deadline, so there is a permanent asterisk to all of this… nothing is ever final until the trade deadline officially passes. It’s like getting up from the table at the car dealership and walking towards the door. Until you’re out the door and driving home, the negotiations aren’t over.
If they’re really asking for a premium price, and Ainge is really unwilling to pay it, then it makes sense to say “well, thank you then but… no thanks.”
So it looks like Horford is out.
