Today, we found out the latest news on Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles as he left the game late in third quarter last night. Sproles injured his knee on a four-yard run as he was bent backwards by a New York Giants defender.

He would leave the field on his own power but was visibly upset about whatever the team doctors had told him regarding his knee. During the game, we got an update on Sproles’ status.

Then after the game, it seemed like everything would be okay as Sproles walked out of the locker room saying that he would be alright.

With that being said, everything is not alright as according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sproles is expected to miss at least two weeks with a MCL tear in his left knee.

Since the Eagles are on the bye this week that gives Sproles some rest and it seems like he will only miss the October 26 game at the Arizona Cardinals. Last night, when Sproles left the game, the Eagles were only down to LeSean McCoy and their emergency running back, tight end Trey Burton. Running back Chris Polk did not play last night due to a hamstring injury but let it be known that he would be ready to go after the bye week.

Finally, if Polk is not ready to go, the Eagles could always sign running back Matthew Tucker off of the practice squad.

Update: Head coach Chip Kelly at his press conference said that they will not make any moves this week to the running back position.
