Report: Davis Bertans to participate in individual workouts for Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs season is over but the team has been very busy looking at their foreign talent Report: Davis Bertans to participate in individual
workouts for Spursabroad. Erazem Lorbek is reportedly coming to the Spurs next season, and Adam Hanga is set to complete a two-week workout with the team.

Now, Davis Bertans (selected in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers and his rights were then traded to the Spurs) is coming to San Antonio to do individual workouts with the Spurs and is expected to participate in next season’s Spurs’ training camp according to Latvian site Apollo.lv.

“I do not know exactly what the training will be and what exactly will be done, but I will do all that I’m required to do. I heard at these training camps, there will be a lot of players because the team’s season recently ended.”

Bertans also mentions the Spurs have gone to Latvia to meet with him face-to-face since being acquired in the 2011 Draft.

“At that time, their main goal was to finally meet face to face. We went to dinner, and talked about basketball and about life. In addition, the Spurs organization is known that all players are treated equally – whether you’re Tony Parker or second round draft choice new basketball player, like what I am”

Davis also states he is no longer dealing with knee issues which he dealt with last summer and has lost weight to help any knee issues.

The 20-year old Bertans recently signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Serbian team KK Partizan, so it is highly doubtful he will make his way to the NBA anytime soon.

Last season with Partizan in the Serbian League, Bertans averaged 5.1 points, 0.7 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and shot 68.2% from the field in 11.4 minutes in 18 games.
