Its been two weeks since the start of the 2016 NFL Draft and during that time span, all 32 NFL teams have been putting together their undrafted free agent classes and signing others players to join them for rookie minicamp.
For the Philadelphia Eagles, their rookie minicamp kicks off on Friday and goes until Sunday, where the team will keep their first look at first round pick quarterback Carson Wentz and the other draft picks. Speaking of Wentz, he will not be the only quarterback in attendance at rookie minicamp.
According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, former Notre Dame and Florida State quarterback Everett Golson will be participating in Eagles rookie camp.
Caplan notes that Golson, who went undrafted, spent time with the Indianapolis Colts in their rookie camp but did not receive a contract. Golson began his college football career at Notre Dame, where he went through some struggles off the field in 2013 but rebounded to have a great 2014 season.
In 2014, Golson had a career-year passing for 3,445 yards, 29 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and completing 60.0-percent of his passes. He was also a threat in the running game, rushing for 283 yards and eight touchdowns. If you remember that season, Golson played in the Oct. 18 game against Jameis Winston and Florida State that went down to the wire.
After playing against Florida State in 2014, Golson ended his college career in Tallahassee, FL playing with the Seminoles this past season. With the Seminoles, Golson passed for 1,778 yards, 11 touchdowns, three interceptions and completed 67.1-percent of his passes.
The dual threat quarterback may have a tough time making the Eagles’ roster with the team already having four quarterbacks on the roster, but the goal for Golson should just be to lock down a training camp invite.
