The Wisconsin Badgers 28-24 loss to LSU was more costly than just the 0-1 record, as we saw defensive linemen Konrad Zagzebski and Warren Herring go down. Zagzebski appears like he will return in a few weeks, but the status of Herring was a bit murkier.
On Wednesday night, Jim Polzin of the Wisconsin State Journal is reporting that Herring is set to miss some extended time with a knee injury. Joining him on the sidelines for some time will also be fullback Derek Watt, although for about double the time.
DE Warren Herring had right knee surgery today and is out 4-6 weeks. FB Derek Watt had right foot surgery and is out for about 8 weeks.

Losing Herring and Zagzebski is a massive blow to the Wisconsin defense, but it also is an opportunity for freshmen Connor Sheehy and Jeremy Patterson to see some major minutes and prove themselves quickly.
UW is going to need one of them to step up to the plate behind sophomore Arthur Goldberg, who proved he wasn’t ready to play 50 plays a game himself up front.
