Report: Jets believe Geno Smith has a torn ACL

Baltimore Ravens v New York Jets

Geno Smith may have played his last game for the New York Jets.

The 26-year-old soon-to-be free agent after this season suffered a right knee injury in the second quarter of the Jets’ 24-16 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and didn’t return to the game. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that based on the initial MRI, the Jets believe Smith tore his ACL.

Smith was attempting to reclaim the starting quarterback job that belonged to him in each of his first two seasons since being drafted 39th overall by the Jets in 2013. He went 4-of-8 for 95 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens before getting hurt.

With Smith likely done for the season, the Jets will be forced to go back to Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was demoted after throwing 11 interceptions in seven games.
