Pirate Prospects learned today that Josh Harrison is on his way to Toronto, which can only mean that Jose Tabata is headed for the disabled list (since Harrison was just demoted, he wouldn’t be eligible to re-join the Pirates until Sunday or Monday unless someone goes on the DL).
It’s generally bad news that Tabata’s going on the shelf because he’s been a solid leadoff man of late, even if he’s not hitting for much power. This is especially bad timing, though, as the Pirates need an extra hitter this week. Now instead of the extra hitter being Alex Presley, the options are guys like Harrison, Brandon Wood, Xavier Paul, and Matt Diaz. And we wonder why things went so terribly in Cleveland.
