Celtics rookie big man and Summer League phenom Kelly Olynyk will not play for Team Canada in the upcoming FIBA Americas Championships because of plantar fasciitis, reports Toronto Raptors radio analyst Eric Smith.
Plantar fasciitis – inflammation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot – can be a bitch of an injury for NBA big men.
Here’s hoping Olynyk is healed and healthy by the time training camp starts in mid-late September.
After watching him dominate the Orlando Summer League, it’s obvious Olynyk can play at a high level.
