For Walker, this contract extension is well deserved as his play has gotten better since being drafted with the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Last season, Walker along with Al Jefferson helped lead the Charlotte Bobcats to their second ever playoff appearance in franchise history. During the 2013-14 season, he averaged 17.7 points, 6.1 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. Over his career thus far, Walker is averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Expect those numbers to go up as this is year two under head coach Steve Clifford. Clifford had Charlotte playing well on both sides of the ball, which ultimately got them to the playoffs. Adding another year of development for Walker to go along with Lance Stephenson, who the Hornets signed in free agency and rookies Noah Vonleh and P.J. Hairston, this team could be destined for big things in the next few years.
