It appears Kevin Garnett’s happy homecoming in Minnesota is coming to an end. I’m not surprised to hear that a 40-year old (except for David Ortiz, he’s immortal) no longer has a place on any professional sports team. But there’s also speculation (11 minute mark of the podcast) that KG and the current Wolves management – which includes old friend Tom Thibodeau) – might not be on the same page with regards to a future role in the front office or ownership.
I can see KG sliding into a minority ownership position. Buying in at 5-10% and staying relatively quiet. I don’t envision him in an executive position working 12 hours a day, traveling with the team and meeting with the media. He doesn’t have the temperament for that. Maybe he will after a few years in retirement.
