The Sacramento Kings have signed Marshall Henderson to a training camp contract, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears.
The 24-year-old Henderson averaged 17.2 points on 36.9 percent shooting, 1.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 turnovers in 96 NCAA appearances. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder who attended Utah, South Plains College and Ole Miss from 2009-2014 launched a head-turning 10.1 3-pointers per game at a 34.4 percent clip.
Henderson is no stranger to controversy. The outspoken personality served a brief suspension for Ole Miss in fall 2013 for a drug offense, which sealed his fate going undrafted in 2014. He’s played professionally in Qatar and Iraq since.
The Kings reportedly showed interest in signing Henderson last summer, and his long-range offense may find him a spot with the Reno Bighorns should he fail to make the regular season team. Cowbell Kingdom will keep you updated as we find out more.
