So, the rumors are true…. Get ready for Wisconsin vs. LSU to open the 2014 and 2016 seasons. Nola.com is reporing that the Badgers and Bayou Bengals will meet in Houston to kick-off the 2014 season and then the return neutral game will be in Lambeau for the start of the 2016 season.
According to the report the contracts for the games are expected to be signed next week, officially setting this thing in stone. The news comes from the mouth of LSU associate athletic director Verge Ausberry.
"We still have some small details to wrk out but the contracts should be done next week," Ausberry said i the report. "It took awhile but that's how these neutral site games are. They're in NFL stadiums and we have to go through the conference office and talk about TV rights."
As most should know this would be the first ever college football game played at historic Lambeau Field.
Of course if you've been following along that means UW will face LSU, Alabama, and LSU again to open the seasons from 2014-2016.
Badger fans who have been clammoring for an upgrade in the scheduling for the Badgers certainly appear to have gotten their wish and thensome.
What will be interesting to see is what, if anything happens to the 2016 games at Virginia Tech. According to FBSchedules.com, the Badgers are currently slated to play the Hokies the 2nd week of the season in Blacksburg. Does UW keep that game on their schedule or do they move it back or forward a year, given the fact that 2016 will be the start of the nine game schedule inside the Big Ten.
Is that what is holding up the announcement and the contract signing? Either way, expect the announcement to come next week and expect these tickets to be hard to come by in any way, shape or form. Oh, and since GB is my home base, you can expect us here at MTB to have something special up our sleeves for that 2016 game to say the least!!
