According to league sources, Wolves president of operations Flip Saunders has had a conversation with the Celtics about Garnett.

Who initiated the talks, in whom the Celtics might have an interest on the Wolves and whether Garnett would waive his no-trade clause to come to Minnesota are unknown.

One source characterized the talks as Saunders just doing his due diligence in the event that a new contract can’t be worked out with restricted free agent centerNikola Pekovic.

Pekovic and Garnett are not mutually exclusive. In fact, it could be easy to see the two co-exist. But the source was adamant that Garnett was more of a contingency plan.

This is something I brought up a few days ago.  It’s the only non-contender KG might consider.  If he gets one last go-round with Minnesota, playing along side Kevin Love, he might take some satisfaction in helping them get to the playoffs.

Maybe he won’t.  It’s hard to say with KG.  He likes Flip Saunders, though, so that counts for something.   And like I said earlier this week, if we get Pekovic & a back up point guard for KG, then you’ve got a solid center and, finally, a guy that let Rondo get some rest.

There are going to be a million scenarios flying at us over the next few weeks, so buckle up.
