Later this morning, the NBA will announce its new media-rights partnership as this one promises to be huge by all accounts. NBA commissioner Adam Silver will address the media at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
The NBA’s current media deal which has partnerships with ESPN/ABC and Turner is set to expire after the 2015-16 season. With the word of a possible NBA lockout looming in 2017, the new media-rights partnership could possibly put an end to that.
According to Richard Sandomir of the New York Times, the league is set to announce later this morning a huge nine-year, $24 billion deal, which will begin after the 2016-17 season.
NBA to announce $24 billion/9 year deal w/ ESPN and TNT on Monday. Annual average value nearly 3x current deal.

When people saw this, there were a lot of reactions to this mega media deal as the NBA is starting to make themselves a more globalized game. But, if this is true, then players in the NBA should be happy about the amount of coin they could make.
Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders noted this especially when it comes to Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James:
By the way, THIS is why LeBron James signed a two-year deal with the Cavs. He’ll get to cash in after the cap rises in the summer of 2016.

Spencer Percy of Queen City Hoops also gave his opinion on the possible new TV deal:
NBA TV deal is as lucrative as expected. Get ready to watch everybody spend like it’s Monopoly money next summer. And w/ upcoming extensions

If this TV deal actually happens later this morning, then there will be a lot of NBA players making more money than we have ever seen in the game.
