REPORT: O’Brien transferring from Wisconsin

Fox Sports Wisconsin is reporting that one time Wisconsin starting quarterback Danny O'Brien is transferring from the program. This news comes less than a year from O'Brien coming to Wisconsin to take on the role as starter following in the footsteps of transfer QB Russell Wilson.

According to the report the news of O'Brien's now 2nd transfer in as many years, came from his former high school coach.

O'Brien's time as a Badger was less than stellar as he lost his starting job to redshirt freshman Joel Stave at halftime of the Utah State game. O'Brien would see action in two more games, filling in as Stave had concussion like symptoms against Nebraska (who wants to remember what occured upon his entering, right?) and then again as Stave suffered a broken collar bone early in the 2nd half against Michigan State.

He wasn't even close to effective at all in either fill-in role and after the MSU game the ex-coach chose senior Curt Phillips to start the rest of the season.

Overall O'Brien went 52 of 86 (60.5%) for 523 yards in his one season in the Cardinal and White of Wisconsin.

AS a QB O'Brien has experienced four different head coaches and could make it five if he decides to play football again this fall – something he clearly wants to do given his last tweet back at the beginning of May – which read like this: "I've had some serious ups..and some serious downs..but this story is far from over.."

His account has since been deactivated as of today and his new destination is unknown at at this time. It will be interesting to see where the graduate student lands with just one year left in NCAA eligibility.
