Report: Raiders in negotiations to trade for QB Matt Schaub

Report: Raiders in negotiations to trade for QB Matt SchaubA sports radio station in Houston, TX, SportsRadio 610, is reporting that the Raiders are in "serious talks" to trade the Texans for QB Matt Schaub.

The trade details are unknown at this time. If the Raiders completed this trade, it would likely be for a late round pick of the Raiders as the Texans are not expected to retain Schaub for the season.

Schaub carries an $11 million dollar 2014 salary, which is likely more than the Texans want to pay now that new head coach Bill O'Brien is running the team.

The Raiders have been rumored to want Schaub, if cut, by multiple different sources this off-season. It appears the team determined that they would find out how much it would cost them to guarantee getting the quarterback.

Getting Schaub would allow the team to draft the best player available at the number 5 overall pick, instead of feeling pressured to pick a quarterback.

Schaub has been a solid if not elite quarterback for the Texans ever since the team traded for him in 2007 at the cost of two second round pick. Schaub was a 3rd round selection in 2004 NFL Draft. He holds all of the Texans' passing records.
