The Sacramento Kings are finishing the offseason with a flurry. After adding Omri Casspi and Ryan Hollins on Thursday, it appears they have brought in a veteran guard to compete for minutes with the team’s young backcourt.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Kings will use the bi-annual exception to ink point guard Ramon Sessions to a two-year, $4.2 million deal, just seven days before training camp opens next Saturday in Sacramento.
Sessions played a league-high 83 games last season between the Charlotte Bobcats and Milwaukee Bucks. The 28-year-old combo-guard averaged 12.3 points and 4.1 assists in 26.7 minutes per game for the two teams. During his seven years in the NBA, the former University of Nevada-Reno star has put up similar averages of 11.7 points and 4.3 assists.
Before the addition of Sessions, the Sacramento Kings had one of the league’s youngest and most inexperienced backcourts. Sessions will compete for minutes with veteran Darren Collison, second-year guards Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum, as well as rookie Nik Stauskas.
