The Sacramento Kings have signed a Splash Brother, literally, agreeing to terms with Seth Curry on a two-year, $2 million contract. The second year is a player option, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
Curry, 24, is the younger sibling of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and the son of retired 16-year NBA veteran Dell Curry. Seth made waves in this year’s Summer League, averaging 24.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 3.2 steals and merely 1.5 turnovers in six appearances with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder went undrafted out of Duke as a senior in 2013. In 81 D-League games between the Santa Cruz Warriors and Erie BayHawks, the ball handler has produced 21.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.9 turnovers in 35.9 minutes per match. Curry is a 42.5 percent shooter from downtown for his D-League career, converting 3.1 triples per game.
Seth made a single appearance with the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013-14, and two for the Phoenix Suns last season. He has logged a total of 21 NBA minutes and is 1-for-6 from the floor.
The Kings will expect Curry to add outside shooting and fill the role of a third point guard. With the signing, Sacramento’s roster now stands at 16 players. Cowbell Kingdom will keep you updated on the situation.
