Omri Casspi might not be the only former Sacramento King to get a second shot with the team this season.  According to RealGM, Terrence Williams will visit Sacramento on Thursday for a workout and meeting with the team.

After being drafted with the no. 11 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the then New Jersey Nets, the multifaceted forward has spent time with four NBA teams, including an 18 game stint with the Sacramento Kings during the 2011-12 season.  During his stint in Sacramento, Williams showed promise, but the Kings passed on signing him to an extension.

Williams last appeared in the NBA during the 2012-13 season with the Boston Celtics, averaging 4.6 points, 1.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game over 24 contests.  Since then, he has toured the world playing basketball, with stops in Turkey, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and the Dominican Republic.

The 27-year-old Williams spent last season with the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA’s D-League, earning 3rd team All-NBDL honors.  In 32 games, the athletic wing averaged 20.5 points, 6.4 assists and five rebounds per game, but failed to get a call up to the NBA.

Williams  is a two-way player that can guard three positions, including the point.  He has elite athleticism and judging by his 38.1 percent shooting from long-range, he has cured the one major weakness in his on-court game.  He fits the Kings want for more play makers in their position-less scheme and he is a solid defender when properly motivated.

Despite his enormous talent, Williams has struggled to fit into an NBA team’s long-term plans.  Sacramento may present one of his last chances of making it in the league.
