Before the NFL Free Agency began at 4:00 pm, there was a huge trade that had taken place between the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks. According to Jay Glazer, the Saints have traded tight end Jimmy Graham and a fourth round pick to the Seahawks for center Max Unger and a first round pick. ESPN’s Adam Schefter followed up Glazer’s report saying that it is official per a Seahawks official.
With the Seahawks acquiring Graham it provides them a receiving threat that they desperately needed. Last season, Graham finished with 889 receiving yards on 85 catches and 10 touchdowns. In 2013, he had a career year posting 86 receptions for 1,215 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
Graham should see the same type of production as he did in New Orleans as Russell Wilson will be looking to get him the ball early and often.
In terms of Unger, the Saints are getting a center, who was a second round pick of the Seahawks in the 2009 draft. Unger only played in six games last season as he hasn’t played in a full 16 games since 2012 season, where he was named to the Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro.
The Seahawks are the winners of this deal as they fix a necessary issue that cost them the Super Bowl.
