<![CDATA[So it looks like the Taylor Martinez era will not begin in Philadelphia in fact his NFL career is now on hold. According to HuskerOnline.com, Martinez did not pass his team physical which ultimately means his contract is null and void.
On Sunday, the quarterback had signed a three year undrafted free agent deal but the Eagles had planned to use him as either a wide receiver on cornerback. He was more of a project player but definitely was someone to keep an eye on during mini-camp and eventually training camp.
According to Martinez’s father Casey, he said that his son flew to Philadelphia, the Eagles evaluated his medical file from Nebraska and even performed x-rays of their own on his injured foot and he did not pass.
This is the same foot that gave Martinez problems last season at Nebraska and eventually he did not finish the season as Tommy Armstrong Jr. was taking snaps under center for the Cornhuskers.
Casey Martinez told HuskerOnline that his son will seriously think about getting surgery on the foot and pushing towards a full recovery. Finally, Casey Martinez who was still in shock said about Philadelphia, “The Eagles treated him great the brief time he was there. It’s crushing. It was a perfect fit for him.”
Hopefully, the Taylor Martinez story is not over because he some talent, it’s just now a matter of getting healthy and re-pursuing a NFL career.]]>
