Report: UConn Men Could Be Facing NCAA Sanctions

Jim Calhoun - AP PhotoEarlier on Thursday, I linked to an article from the Wall Street Journal entitled “Last Stand for UConn’s Calhoun“. Now normally, I read just about everything I link to but with my time being short this morning, I was unable too.

And after finally reading it, I really wish I had read it earlier.

According to the WSJ, the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team could be facing NCAA sanctions after their investigation presumbly into the Nate Miles and Josh Nochimson situation, has found recruiting violations.

In another setback for the coach, a person familiar with the matter said a representative from the NCAA, which has been investigating Mr. Calhoun’s program for possible recruiting violations, has informed the school that investigators have found violations and will be issuing a report in the near future.

The article also says that Calhoun and the university are very close to getting his signature on the contract he announced he had agreed too.

If you missed it, be sure to check it out. It’s a great read.
