The 5 star recruit had a miserable freshman season where he put up 2.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15 minutes per game. He missed 8 games with turf toe.
Lawrence had an appalling line from the field, where he hit just 28 of 84 shots, 33%. He had an offensive rating of 76.3. 100 is considered average. Jermaine was 16-34 from the free throw line, 47%.
He was a solid rebounder in his per game. He pulled in 9.5% of the offensive boards, 13.2% of defensive. He blocked 16 shots and had 7 steals.
Lawrence’s best game was his 4th game as a Bearcat. He put up 8 points on 4-4 shooting with 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. He had a high of 8 rebounds in the second game of the year. His career high was 9, set against Kennesaw State.
Lawrence scored just 9 points in his return from injury on 2-16 shooting in a span of 11 games.
Jermaine had a lot of hype but for various reasons, things just didn’t work out. Maybe he wanted to be a stretch 4 instead of a banger. That was his game in high school. There is no word on where he would go. Just that he wants out of Cincinnati.
All the best for Jermaine. The Octavius Ellis signing makes more sense now.
