Well.. one game left till one team from each conference punches a ticket into Super Bowl LI (or 51 for those who do not know Roman numerals). Now we get to see the infamous rivalry square off once more in the plains of Foxboro.
Let’s point out the what happened with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. A game that was won on six field goals and a nonstop attack on the ground by Le’Veon Bell. Over 170 yards worth and 30 carries to help guide them past KC. Now with a new task of stopping the unpredictable Patriots, changing around schemes and diving into film about how the Patriots adapt. With Ben Roethlisberger continuing to survive after suffering non stop injuries, fighting through adversity is one thing and trying to guide the Steelers to yet another Super Bowl is completely different. A tough quarterback with some wide receivers that can stretch the ball and make it hell for opposing secondaries.
The recent incidents within the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room has been one of the top stories on sports channels and social media accounts for the past week or so. Star receiver Antonio Brown unannounced his Facebook Live video stream and filmed the postgame remarks from Mike Tomlin addressing his team. The NFL rule that prohibits this type of act has been set and stone for a while so we will see what the future punishment is for Brown and how this will affect the game plan going into Sunday.
The advantage by some goes to New England, simply with the weapons they have and how they use them. We saw Dion Lewis as a triple monster against Houston, accumulating a rushing, passing, and kickoff return for a touchdown last week, becoming the first player ever to accomplish that feat in the postseason. Along with Lewis, players such as Edelman, Bennett, White, and Dion Lewis of course, will all be subject to an abundance of targets from Brady, but if something fails in the system, implement the next man up mentality and try to go from there and win games. The Steelers have a feared defense, but with the unpredictability of Belichick and McDaniels running the offense, it is safe to say Pittsburgh will be on their toes.
We will see how this game plays out, but it should be a interesting match up as this marks the first time this entire season Roethlisberger finally meets Brady.
