As you thought Rex Ryan, Buffalo Bills head coach, really lives on the edge, word soon got out about calling Julian Edelman for Sunday’s game against his team and was hoping to get some “pointers” as Walt Patulski from the Buffalo News. It was worth the shot but Rexy couldn’t get into the gameplan.
Nonetheless, after a 3-0 start to the season, the unpredictable Patriots once again are implementing ideas for trying to stop the 1-2 division foe Bills. As the injuries pile up for New England at the QB spot, healing is what we can ask for about Brissett’s hand and Garoppolo’s shoulder. As the praying session is happening, all the rumors about Julian Edelman starting at quarterback is a likely possibility but coming out of nowhere, LB Jamie Collins startled people and “volunteered” if you will about literally being the starting QB on Sunday.
Along with the quarterback situation being indefinite so far, the running game couldn’t be better as LeGarrette Blount has shown the doubters and fans all around that he has the versatility to lead the league in yards on the ground through the first three games. If we can keep the receiving game going and balance out the run game, we should be in good shape against Buffalo. Plugging in James White in the backfield schemes and giving the backs there fair share of receptions and carries, it will eventually wear out the Bills defense.
Other notes to be aware of is punter Ryan Allen (AFC Special Teams Player of the Week recently). A successful game against the Texans which resulted in 6 booming kicks, all within the 20 yard line or further back, and no return yards after the catch. Allen has proven to be a field position master and through this game, the reliability factor will help out the Patriots D and the field positioning Allen gives them when on 4th down punts (if there is any). While talking about special teams, you have to mention Stephen Gostkowski and how much of a factor he plays when if critical times call for a hero.
Go Pats!!
