Richards, Great Britain win 4th in a row, defeat Israel

RRAfter finally getting a day off yesterday, San Antonio Spurs draftee Ryan Richards and Great Britain got back to work as they defeated Israel 83 to 82.

With six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Great Britain found itself down 82 to 81. Alex Marcotullio would take and make the game winning shot to give Great Britain their fourth straight win in the Under-20 European Championships in Sarajevo.

As I wrote, with help from Sam Neter of Hoops Fix, on Monday, Great Britain cannot finish higher than ninth place in the tournament because they lost two games in a row last week.

Ryan Richards had another monster game as he finished with 32 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 11/25 from the field, 3/7 for the three-point line, 7/8 from the free throw line, and 5 turnovers in 36 minutes of action.

You can see the type of stat line Richards can produce after a day of rest and playing Call of Duty.

Great Britain will finish off the week with a game versus Iceland tomorrow.

For Spurs fans, here’s Richards’ game line broken down by quarters per Neter’s Twitter handle:

At the end of the first quarter, Richards had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Israel only scored 13 points.

At halftime, Richards had scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. His team led by 14 points.

At the end of the third quarter, Richards had put in eight points as he now had 28 points and 12 rebounds. His team led by nine points.

In the final quarter, Israel made a comeback, but Richards’ 32 points and 14 rebounds, plus the help of Marcotullio helped Great Britain take the win.
