Roadhouse is back in the fold after Zac Rinaldo suffered an injury Wednesday night against the Canadiens.
Tye McGinn, a bulky forward who has displayed a solid scoring touch when given an opportunity with the Flyers, has been called up from the AHL Adirondack Phantoms, the Flyers minor affiliate, to fill the void left on either the third or fourth line. Rinaldo suffered a high ankle sprain and had been determined to miss around six weeks, despite the fact that he seemed unbothered much by the injury and in high spirits after the game.
McGinn had three goals in six games with the Flyers earlier this season, but hasn’t potted that many in the minors, with just six in 28 games. Perhaps he’s better suited for the NHL, who knows.
The move makes me wonder who will go where, considering the knock on McGinn, at least presently, is his lack of a solid two way game. This could either mean Steve Downie or rookie Michael Raffl will take the fourth line minutes, while McGinn moves to the third. Vincent Lecavalier has been slumping a bit, and one has to ponder whether he might make the jump to the first to breathe life into his game with the help of Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek.
This is something the Flyers fans will find out come Saturday afternoon when they take on the Lightning early on for a shot at 11 wins in a row at home.
