I’m too young to remember Gary Carter’s playing career and so I won’t write much about him (I don’t write frequently enough about the ex-Pirates that pass away and so I feel weirdly bad about mentioning the death of a player so closely associated with the Pirates’ two main rivals during the last time the Pirates were relevant), but occasionally I stumble upon something that makes me say to myself, “This. This is why I love baseball.” This clip, which is making the internet rounds today after Carter’s death, will do that for you.
I might not have many personal memories of Carter for myself, but I can tell you that anyone that can create a moment this perfect will certainly be missed by baseball fans everywhere.
