Risers and Fallers: Tampa Bay Buccaneer Report Card for *P1 @Miami
Josh Freeman gets the player of game award for his 4/4 1TD night.
Our first feature for Risers and Fallers is finding the top dog on both sides of the coin; so lets dig in! Player of the Game: Josh Freeman Anytime you have a player with perfect nunbers, you have to consider that guy a serious riser on the team. Well Josh Freeman is now on the top folks. He went 4 for 4 and a TD, basically dominating his time while on the field. The knocks on Freeman were accuracy and decision making. Find me a more accurate pass than the 30 yarder to Mike Williams, or better decision making than the TD pass to Sammy Stroughter. Its only Preseason (I will say that about 30 more times in August), but hey, what would we have said if he played bad right? Worst Player of the Game: Derrick Ward Ward showed up to camp in a Ferrari, talked about how this was going to be a new year and a new opportunity for him. He did NOT hit the holes as hard or as quick as Cadillac did. Now the rest of the PreSeason is going to be an uphill battle for Ward, who not only is going to have to shake the reputation of what was a disapointing 2009, but now also a subpar game one in Preseason 2010. More Risers: EJ Biggers- Broke up passes, made sure tackles, recovered a fumble, can you say Ronde Barber? I know It’s  Preseason (from now on to be refered to as IKIP), but Biggers may be locking in the nickle solution the Bucs are looking for. Kareem  Huggins- While some can use the excuse for Ward that the weather was terrible, Huggins sure found a way to brake long runs under the same conditions. Corey Lynch- We may have to have our annual RUDY prize winner, if we did Lynch would get it often. With an already popular name, his play is beyond such, having blocked another punt last night, a Punt last year and a Field Goal. Sliders: No, were not talking about the inter-dimentional ones, although some of the players on this list are going to wish they could slide on out with Professor Arcturo.  There are some suprises here too… Josh Johnson did not look like the type of quarterback you would want to send in the game if your starter needed to come out for any reason. Since Josh Freeman is the MAN here, wouldn’t it be prudent to bring in a veteran back up to spell him just in case? A few Bubble players pretty much popped themselves last night, to the point they are going to need major effort now to do something. Darell Pasco gave up a TD and will probably be on the first cut, but with tons of stories to tell his grandkids.Chris  Brooks knows all about the fine line between winning and losing. Its the difference between catching a ball on the way to the end zone and going in, or not going in and scoring because you couldn’t hold onto the ball.
