After missing much of the early season to injury, Robert Gallery is now about to be placed on injured reserve, which will end his season. Gallery injured his back during the double pass play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. He was replaced for the remainder of the game by Langston Walker.

This injury, which Cable describes, “I don’t have all the details to this, so I really can’t say. I’ll just say it’s a lower back strain that needs some attention.” continues the shuffling of the offensive line which has been an ongoing issue this season. It also deprives the Raiders of their best linemen for their last four games. With Albert Haynesworth on the interior of the defensive line, Gallery’s presence will be missed against the Washington Redskins.
Cable was not concerned about it becoming a career threatening issue for the star left guard, “He’s a very good player and was playing good before he got hurt in Kansas City. He comes back and gets back into groove and all that. So it’s disappointing for him and for our team. He’s not had these types of things that have kept him out of games in the past. It’s a tough pill to swallow but it’s the game and it does it to a lot of people.
Also of concern is center Samson Satele who could not finish the game against the Steelers. Coach Tom Cable said that Satele was questionable for the game against the Skins. If Satele can’t go, Morris will slide over to center and Langston Walker will fill Gallery’s shoes at guard, as he did against the Steelers.
