Dallas – World-rated featherweight Roberto Marroquin will do his final sparring at his Media Day set for this Saturday, March 9, 3 pm, at the Maple Street Gym, 4020 Maple Ave., Dallas. Fight fans and media are invited to attend.
Marroquin, the popular young star from Dallas, is taking on Antonio Escalente of El Paso in the main event on Top Rank's Red River Rumble boxing event at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville on Saturday, March 16.
Marroquin vs. Escalente will headline the live Solo Boxeo Tecate telecast on UniMas.
Marroquin has a record of 22-2, 15 KOs. His trainer is Paul Reyes who has been in the corner with Texas world champions. Escalente has a record of 28-5, 19 KOs.
"Escalente is a dangerous fighter. But he likes to press forward and I should be able to catch him," Marroquin said.
Also working out will be young, hard-hitting Alex Saucedo who will also be appearing on the Top Rank card. Saucedo is a very hard-hitting 7-0 welterweight who lives and trains in Oklahoma City.
Marroquin and Saucedo will take photographs and sign autographs for all fight fans on Saturday.
