Tuesday night marks the first time Robinson Cano will visit the New York Yankees since bolting the Bronx and signing a 10-year, $240-million contract this past off season.
Monday, he stopped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and, yes, the conversation shifted to how the new Seattle Mariners star thinks he’ll be greeted by Yankees fans.
“The way I left New York, I left in a good way,” Cano told the show’s host. “I’ll hopefully get a good standing ovation. But if its not, I’m going to have fun. I’m still going to have some love for the New York fans, for all those years I was here. They were so patient and so kind to me, and I really want to thank them for that.”
We’ll see if the fans Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium return the favor…or if they’ll serenade him with insults.
