R’oh R’oh: George wrecks market for closers

The Yanks have offered closer Mariano Rivera $15 million per year.
The older, and apparently less effective Rivera, is now getting $15 million per year. Suppose Brewers’ GM Doug Melvin has paid a visit to Mark Attanasio and his partners’ accountants already?
This offer–if true–does not bode well for the Crew re-signing Francisco Cordero. If Rivera is worth that much, wouldn’t Cordero be worth at least $12 million per year? Will the Brew spring for that kind of change? I kind of doubt it.
