Just four days after his arrest in Alabama on several charges including assault and firing a weapon in city limits, Rolando McClain was active for Sunday’s game versus the Dolphins–but he was not in the starting lineup.
McClain sat while Aaron Curry started at middle linebacker in his place. This benching didn’t last long, however. He was back in the game after the first two plays, the last of which was a 12 yard first down run by Reggie Bush.
There are not a lot of certainties yet in the case against McClain, and while Hue Jackson has given McClain a slap on the wrist by not starting him, it is clear that he will at least wait until he gets more information either from McClain, the authorities in the case, or commissioner Roger Goodell before he takes further action.
Aside from the charges against McClain, he was also in Alabama all week not practicing with his teammates as he was excused to attend the funeral of his grandfather. He joined the team in Miami when they arrived.
