The physical demands of a career in the arena of combat sports are often too great to quantify. Sure, there are the easily identifiable injuries such as a broken nose, torn ACL, etc. but what about the physical effects of a pugilistic career on the brain? This is a question that has given rise to a wave of detractors who label any combative sport a risk to the longevity of normal neurological functionality. While such theories have the critics one local group of medical experts here in North Texas are working toward finding an answer to the age old question, is boxing dangerous to the brain.
