Ross Ohlendorf and the terrible luck

Let’s say you’re on a roll, pitching very well over a solid six-week span, feeling good after an early season back injury, and you’re still somehow just 1-9 on the season. You’ve just watched the back end of your bullpen, which has been excellent all year, blow two leads in your last two starts. And now, you draw Josh Johnson, one of the best starters in the entire National League. You’re Ross Ohlendorf.

I’m afraid of what Josh Johnson is going to do to the Pirates tonight. I assume he will tear them apart shred by shred, rebuild them to prove he can, and tear them apart again just for good measure and effect. No-hitter, anybody? First pitch is at 7:05, Clemente/Cangelosi is after the jump.

Not sure what this is? Check here and here. Short version: in the comments pick the Pirates you think will be most and least valuable in today’s game. If you haven’t jumped aboard yet, it’s been a lot of fun so far and now’s as good a time as any to join in.

So here’s a scary phrase: Last night‘s Clementes were Andy LaRoche and Sean Gallagher. Sigh. Duke and Walker were Cangelosis.
