ROSTER REALITY CHECK —SOME SURPRISES FOR EAGLES…

grouphuddle

What a difference a year makes—or even a few months—when observing the transformation of the season-ending roster from the 2015 Eagles.  Now when I look at the current 2016 roster, here are the names I never expected to see:

Terrence Brooks (backup safety and special teams)
Dillon Gordon (backup tackle and tight end)
Dorial Green-Beckham (wide receiver)
Kamu Grugier-Hill (backup linebacker and special teams)
Bryce Treggs (wide receiver and special teams)
Stephen Tulloch (linebacker)
Destiny Vaeao (backup defensive tackle)

Also, doesn’t it seem like a long time ago when Joe Walker and Alex McCalister  got hurt and went on injured reserve?

The “surprise” guys on my list up there are proof that there really was an open competition at some positions during Eagles training camp, and the team did not hesitate to pick up some guys from outside the organization when it felt they could upgrade or at least plug a hole.

You may have you own version of  surprises you see on the current roster:

The Eagles typically do not shoot their official group Team Photo until late October. Now I think I know why—the roster is an especially fluid thing between August and October.
