It’s here, folks. Game 1 of the much-anticipated Brooklyn Nets-Miami Heat is upon us as the No. 6 seed Nets have taken their talents to South Beach to play the Heat, who have won the last two NBA championships. Much has been made about how Brooklyn swept all four games the two teams played this season, but all four contests were extremely close, and three were decided by one point exactly (the other one was a nine-point, double-overtime Nets win).
What do the results of those games tell us? Maybe nothing, because none of them were of the playoff variety, but they do hint at the Nets possibly knowing the secret way to beat the Heat, similarly to how the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons stopped Michael Jordan with the so-called “Jordan Rules.” We’re not going to go that far with the Nets’ isolated, one-year, regular season success against Miami, but if they can somehow take them down in this series, maybe we should.
Probable Lineups
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Shaun Livingston (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Paul Pierce (PF), Kevin Garnett (C)
MIA- Mario Chalmers (PG), Dwyane Wade (SG), LeBron James (SF), Shane Battier (PF), Chris Bosh (C)
Final Thoughts
If Brooklyn wants to make a splash this postseason, they can do it by beating the Heat. And if they want to beat the Heat, winning Game 1 in Miami to take back homecourt advantage would be a pretty good start.
