According CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, former Toronto Blue Jay and Philadelphia Phillie pitcher Roy Halladay is retiring.

Nobody knew that this was happening but once news broke on Twitter that the Blue Jays were holding a press conference at 12:30 pm people started to speculate.

Heyman also reports:

Roy Halladay for sure is a first ballot hall of famer and he was a workhorse throughout his entire baseball career. Halladay finishes his career with a 3.38 ERA, 2117 strikeouts, and 203 wins.

In his career, Halladay also was a two-time Cy Young winner. Phillies fans will remember him most for the perfect game he threw in the 2010 season on May 29th against the Florida Marlins. Then in the 2010 NLDS, he threw a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds in his first playoff game.

Halladay was a gamer and it was so sad to see the decline of Halladay in Philadelphia last season but there still were a lot of great moments. Congrats Roy Halladay on an illustrious baseball career.
