It was great while it lasted, wasn’t it?
In true Cleveland Browns fashion, the Royster Brothers streak of winners against the spread was halted at six. We both learned a valuable lesson. (Well, Attiba did, anyway. Actually, he was probably reminded of a lesson. Don’t put any hopes or dreams in the Cleveland Browns. It will only end badly for you.)
On the plus side for me, I have pulled even with Attiba as we both have 8-4 records against the spread this season, and we nailed our first ever two-team parlay taking Arizona and Cincinnati last week.
As Attiba stated to me last night, we’re at the point of the year where Vegas has more or less wised up as to who’s good and who isn’t, so picking games is a little bit hard because most of the lines are exactly where they need to be. There is some value in this week’s picks, but a little more hope and imagination had to be used than normal.
That being said, here are the picks for Week 13:

Attiba’s Pick: New York Giants +2 vs. New York Jets
This is technically a home game for the Giants, so they do get that “home dog” distinction. The Jets and Giants share that stadium, however, so who even knows what to call that, anymore. At this point, shouldn’t that just be called a neutral field when these two get together?
Regardless of who’s wearing home uniforms, Attiba is taking the New York Giants even when he has no earthly idea about this team, anymore. They lose to his New Orleans Saints in the mother of all shootouts, and take care of business against the Buccaneers. The Patriots were given all they could handle and then some, and then the Giants lay an absolute turd against the Washington Professional Football Team.
Who is this team? Someone answer this for us because we have no idea. We’ll take suggestions from anyone and everyone. What are your thoughts Joe Dude from the Bronx (or whatever borough Giants fans usually congregate)? There is this note of positivity in Attiba’s pick. The Giants have covered every game where they were the underdog this season, so Teebs has that going for him.
The Jets do have a real, professional, NFL defense, and that may not bode well for Eli Manning. On the other hand, the Giants were 6 1/2 point underdogs against Buffalo earlier in the year, and they won out right.
Adio’s Pick: Oakland Raiders +3 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
“You’ve been banging the Raiders hard this season. Spread the love a little bit.”
That’s what Attiba said to me when I made this my pick last night. Here’s the thing. We’re trying to win money, here, Attiba. We’re looking for that straight cash, homey. It’s Christmas time, and I’m looking for a couple of extra Benjamins this holiday season. Now is not the time to get crazy and select on a whim. If that were the case, I’d take San Diego +4. I’m not going to do that, though, because San Diego stinks, and taking them over the “Legend of Brock Osweiler” is the same as taking a $100 bill and lighting it on fire.
I have been very bullish on the Oakland Raiders this season because I believe they may finally be a real NFL football team as opposed to 53 guys collectively posing as one. The Raiders had a rough three game stretch where they lost to Pittsburgh away, Minnesota at home, and Detroit at home — who until last night were still in playoff contention. They beat the Tennessee Titans last week 24-21, and they may get very hyped up about facing a hot team in Kansas City who has come alive after starting 1-5.
It’s a divisional game, and the Raiders need this win to get some swagger back in the midst of a playoff race. The Raiders are at home, and I think there’s a little too much excitement for this Kansas City team that still struggles to get wide receivers in the end zone. I’m pushing the Raiders again, America. Just win, baby.
Royster Brothers Two-Team Parlay: New England Patriots and Chicago Bears
Before making his Giants +2 pick, Attiba was ridiculously close to taking the New England Patriots minus-9 1/2 at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. I know. The Patriots are without many of their skill players (i.e. Gronkowski, Edelman, Dion Lewis) as well as several offensive linemen, but we both believe there’s no way the Patriots don’t cover 9 1/2.
Tom Brady is still the quarterback. Bill Belichick is still the head coach, and Foxboro is still Foxboro. The Eagles have been absolutely atrocious for two weeks suffering two losses by a combined score of 90-31. Yeah, the Patriots are winning this game, boys and girls, and they’ll probably do so handily.
The reasoning for picking Chicago is fairly simple. The Bears are hot having won three of their last four to get to 5-6 on the year. The San Francisco 49ers are hot garbage who have lost four of five, benched their $100 million quarterback for Blaine Gabbert and have a general lack of direction after massive amounts of turnover from the season before.
