Royster Brothers Pick Going Back to a Familiar Red-Headed Face

The New York Giants are a microcosm, and who knows with that team, now?  They have the talent, but they’re just increasingly frustrating.  Down goes Attiba’s week 13 pick.

The Oakland Raiders simply didn’t show up against the Kansas City Chiefs.  Somehow, someway, Alex Smith remembered that he had receivers other than running backs or tight ends.  (Thanks for realizing that, now, by the way.  Where were you when I took you earlier in the year?  Son-of-a …)  Down goes my pick.

Robbie Gould — the pride of Central Mountain High School in Pennsylvania as my friend Douglas mentioned — forgot how to kick a stinking field goal, apparently, so our two-team parlay pick was toast before it even got started.

See what I mean about not betting with “Joey the Bookie”, kids?  After a week like that, Attiba and I would probably be on our way to some deserted tropical island.

The Royster Brothers come into Week 14 very humbled, very ashamed, and a little lighter in the wallet after putting a big donut on the scoreboard last week.  When talking to Attiba earlier in the week, it was clear he wasn’t messing around.

“Yeah, I’m done with putting my faith in crappy teams.”  (Granted, this was after I suggested that he maybe play Cleveland plus-1 against San Francisco this week, but the point remains.)

Now, apparently, this is a popular segment among Total Sports Live readers, so there has been a request to “guest pick” in this week’s games.  Normally, we would scoff at such things, but when I told my brother, his response was simply this:

“Why not?  Why should we be the only people that look like idiots?”

I agree.

That being said, our special guest picker this week is my friend Ryan Harris — who I’ve known for over a decade thanks to my time living in San Diego, California.  He’s in Las Vegas this weekend — presumably for the UFC fight where Jose Aldo is a +105 underdog against the favorite Connor McGregor (-135) — so he will be able to make picks legally since Las Vegas is an awesome town.  (Not that I’ve ever been there, but that’s beside the point.)

Here are all of our picks for Week 14 of the NFL season.

Royster Brothers Lock Alert: Cincinnati Bengals -3 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Seriously.  Attiba and I are done making picks and putting our faith in crappy teams.  We’re done.  Enter the Cincinnati Bengals once again.  We’ve tapped the well with the ginger-led gang quite a few times this season, and we’ve not been disappointed.  (One of us actually picked them against Seattle earlier in the year, but I won’t say who.  I’ll just point to myself emphatically.)

This is a must win game for the Bengals.  How, you ask?  Cincinnati wouldn’t mind going into the playoffs with a little momentum, so sweeping the season series against a division rival definitely aids in that.  Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger absolutely destroyed the Indianapolis Colts last week, but to be honest, so has everyone.  Roethlisberger wasn’t that great in Cincinnati a month ago.  He was picked off three times, and his team lost 16-10.  This time, Pittsburgh comes in having won three of their last four.  They’re hot.  Cincinnati needs this win to once again prove they can hang with tough competition.

Ryan Harris’s Pick: Miami Dolphins +1 vs. New York Giants

“I like to get a little frisky risky.”

That’s how Ryan explained this pick.  Is it that risky, though?  Let’s face it.  I know Miami isn’t lighting the world on fire or anything, but neither are the Giants.  Sure, they’re in a three-way tie for the NFC East division at 5-7 — which is troubling in its own right, but I don’t know if I can trust them, anymore.  The Giants have all the talent to be the best in the NFC East, but the consistency isn’t there.  They’ve lost three in a row to the Patriots, Redskins, and Jets.  This team could be reeling.  One more loss, and even in the NFC East, they’re probably done.

The Dolphins are still in the playoff chase — in the sense that they haven’t been mathematically eliminated, yet.  Miami needs a win this week to even have the slimmest sliver of hope.  Maybe Miami is back on track after beating Baltimore last week.

Two-Team Parlay:
Seattle Seahawks -11 1/2 at Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs -10 1/2 vs. San Diego Chargers

What is there to say?  Seattle is on a roll, and they’re playing Baltimore who has been DECIMATED by injuries.  Kansas City is at home for San Diego, and the Chargers … are the Chargers.  There’s not much more to add than that.
